Activity Log #10

I plan on using Zotero to help manage my citations and Tableau Public for data visualizations in my project.

First, saving sources to Zotero’s application has enabled me to keep track of useful information for my digital essay. Typically, I find myself creating a long list of links that often gets confusing and complex to refer back to. However, Zotero makes management of sources comparably easy. With its integrated Google Docs plugin feature, I can add a source to a list with the click of a button. When accessing the desktop version of the application, I can browse my added sources as Zotero provides corresponding citation information.

Second, I plan on using Tableau Public for data visualizations. As outlined in my project proposal, I plan on using word analysis to identify the proportion of words that are positive versus negative descriptors of Deepfake technology. When I collect this data, I can import it to Tableau and create insightful graphs that will add a visual element to my project. When I was exploring potential visualization tools, I identified applications that were most compatible with data connectors such as Google Sheets and Analytics and Microsoft Excel. After researching and experimenting with other tools that Professor Abdoney suggested, I thought Tableau was the best fit for my project.
